SUMMARY:Islands & Ozarks Art Showcase: Meet the Artist Happy Hour
DESCRIPTION:Art\, Community & Flavor: Join Us at Lasang Pinoy!\nWelcome to the stunning work of artist Mary Talbert as the feature artist of the Islands & Ozarks Artist Showcase!\n\nWe invite the community to a special Artist Happy Hour.  Come celebrate Mary’s incredible artwork while enjoying one of Downtown Rogers’ most flavorful dining experiences.https://www.facebook.com/share/1UE8zEMHBf/\n\nMary’s artwork will be on display and available for purchase from April 14 through June 9.\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Artist\n\n\nMary Talbert is a 102-year-old artist who lives near West Fork\, Arkansas\, and whose work reflects a lifetime of observation\, creativity\, and resilience. This exhibition in Downtown Rogers marks her fourth public art exhibition in less than three years. She debuted at age 100 with her first exhibition at The Medium in Springdale\, followed by shows at The Apollo in Springdale and First National Bank NWA in Bentonville. Her work will be available for purchase at the reception.\n\n\nMary’s artistic foundation was shaped by four years of formal art education in high school. After graduating\, she moved to Kansas City\, where she worked at Halls Brothers (now Hallmark Cards) while attending the Kansas City School of Commerce at night. Art has remained a constant throughout her life. While raising her family\, she continued painting—often creating portraits of pets—and later co-founded the first Art Fair in Atchison\, Kansas.\n\n\nIn 1972\, her family relocated to Arkansas\, where she and her husband Joe established a glass-etching business producing church windows\, Christmas ornaments\, and decorative pieces. Inspired by Arkansas’s landscapes\, Talbert’s work captures the state’s people\, places\, and natural beauty—often preserving scenes that no longer exist. Her paintings reflect a deep commitment to history\, environment\, and community.\n\n\nShe is a signature member of the Ozark Pastel Society and Artists of Northwest Arkansas (ANA) and regularly exhibits in ANA member shows. In 2024\, Talbert was honored as the featured artist in The Golden Creatives Art Exhibit celebrating her 100th birthday.\n\n\nTalbert’s life was the subject of a documentary\, “The Timeless Canvas: A Century of Mary Talbert\,” by Don Tyson School of Innovation\, she also participated in the Generational Journeys Apprentice/Mentor Program\, where she mentored a high school student—continuing her legacy of inspiring the next generation of artists.
